Michelle Obama dolls model First Lady’s sweet duds

Following in the dainty plastic footsteps of Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama is the next fashion icon to be immortalized. Jason Feinberg of Jail Break Toys has crafted a series of First Lady action figures, each decked out in a plastic representation of Obama’s famous outfits.

My personal favorite is the red-and-black Narciso Rodriguez ensemble, but Counterfeit Chic makes the very relevant point that Feinberg could have himself in a major copyright pickle here, depending on what the source is for his figures: sketches, fabrics, or press photos of the dresses in question. What do you think of the dolls?

A copyright infringement? For what? I believe design patents only apply if you’re using an image like a copy-written picture or piece of art do decorate something. If I was Rodriguez I’d be happy about this. How many of his designs have ended up on something other than a real woman? lol
(LOVE these figures!)
